PYTHON
In the story of Python, Apollo (son of Zeus and sister to Artemis) faced this dragon that had been sent by Hera (wife of Zeus) perilously chased his mortal mother while she was pregnant. When Apollo was four days old, he went after Python with his bow and arrow and killed the giant dragon that was several acres in length. It was said that he became so overjoyed with his success, he picked up the lyre sitting close by and started playing, bringing joy to all the villagers near by as well. It was then that he became the God of Light. However the Python was also the Oracle of Delphi, the greatest prophet of all time. As a punishment, Apollo was forced to go learn the way of the prophecy and live as a mortal for a year. |
